First I met old Johnny, he ain't had a thing to his name. And he wasn't old neither.

This scrawny young kid wanders into my diner and sez, he sez: "How d'you like music, m'am?"

And I told 'im: "I like music fine, but it better be good if you're gunning for a free dinner."

And he sez: "I ain't gunning for nothing, m'am, aside for maybe a couple of them spoons over there."

And then he just sat on the step and he start to play...

. . .

I ain't never heard no one play like that. Old Johnny, he got a lifelong admirer that day, free dinner, and 10 bucks he never paid back.
